Auslan

At Ardmona Primary School our students participate in weekly Auslan lessons as part of our commitment to building an inclusive, respectful and connected school community. Through engaging and interactive activities, students learn how to communicate using Australian Sign Language while also developing a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and the importance of accessibility for all people.

Our Auslan program encourages students to build confidence, empathy and communication skills in a fun and meaningful way. Students enjoy learning everyday signs, greetings, questions, songs and games, and love practising their new skills with classmates throughout the week.

By introducing Auslan from an early age, we are helping students become thoughtful communicators and active, inclusive members of the community. The lessons also support collaboration, listening skills and student confidence, while giving children the opportunity to learn a valuable life skill that extends beyond the classroom.
